Magefell: What was The Shattering?

An excerpt from the Lorekeeprs, and then my thoughts on The Shattering and the world history in general.

History

Timeline Overview

Space-faring civilizations record time in Galactic Time, time based upon the earliest events perceived by magic and revelation. Magefell’s history begins, as remembered by several deities consulted, with the Time of Relics.

Our timeline will delineate a few events from other systems in Galactic Time to place Magefell, but will otherwise use time notations and major events as understood by those on Magefell, as in keeping with our other compendium records.

Note that the following will describe the events leading to the creation of Magefell as if central to the known universe. This approach is in keeping with our standard of perspectivism, by which we believe that understanding is most useful at the level of a conscious being who believes in the point of view expressed.

At any point where such a perspective should, while remaining in the majority on Magefell, oppose the collective understanding of the universe, a footnote will indicate the prevailing bias.

Timeline

Unknown – 0GT (Galactic Time)

Most known and observable galaxies formed, through powers incomprehensible or beings outside time.

Many scholars theorize that time is itself a god, and the strongest, having bent the rules by which it lives seldom few times, thereby granting it immense strength over beings of broken oaths.

In any case, the ancient powers outside of time vanished, or entered a state of slumber when conscious beings first began to mark the passage of moments.

0GT – 3000GT

The Taeos Wars. Ascended Beings, coalesced power, and creation energy fought or collided in the Torvaliel region, as witnessed by distant factions in the LielWay galaxy.

We Keepers owe our origin and directive to the Greatest Ascendant One; this fact is disputed by others but we offer a thorough proof in our compendium: The Keepers.

3000GT – 4000GT

Power attracts Lesser Ascendants, who lay claim to energetic regions of space, and engage in battles of will. Planets are formed to raise followers, and gain power over other Lesser Ascendants.

The Arnix Band, a particularly powerful creation energy region, attracts several Lesser Ascendants. Their fight briefly raises from slumber That Which Was Not (modern scholars believe this entity to be an extension of the Greater Ascendant of the void, Valsc), forcing the Lesser Ascendants to band together or be erased.

The Arnix System is witnessed by the Jiid-Kovad, 3850GT.

Magefell soon follows, a planet embedded with much of the Lesser Ascendant’s powers, so as to tie themselves to the temporal plane, escaping That Which Was Not.

4000GT / 0TR (the Time of Relics)

Galoran Swiftstride marks the upper regions of Magefell with stone requested from Moradin himself, the only known human to so curry such favor with the Lesser Ascendant.

A Lesser Ascendant raises the Arcane Peaks. The Dwarves initially make their home here.

  • [Redacted]. The dwarves move to the Moradale Mountains, centering their capital in Irith Aldur. 500TR

Many planets record in their histories, in various capacities, an increase of visions from the Greater Ascendant Maed. Some attribute this timeframe with the creation of humans on Magefell, by Maed.

1000TR – 2000TR

Races common to other galaxies are raised in Magefell by the Lesser Ascendants. Heralds of Doom speak of a time when all creatures must praise the Ascendants or life will end.
